Newly formed hotel group to drive the region’s tourism industry

It started with two local hoteliers discussing how they could work together to promote their businesses. Word spread and, by the time an initial meeting was called, six hoteliers were involved. A month later, and that number had more than doubled.

North Wales Hotels Working Group – the brainchild of The Beaufort Park Hotel’s Sue Warnock and Rossett Hall Hotel’s Darryl Shaw – is a collection of independent hotels working together with local attractions to capitalise on the 100,000 leisure tourists who last year visited the North Wales borderlands.

“Due to the present economic climate and public sector spending cuts, all businesses will see a significant reduction in corporate travel and spend”…explained Darryl Shaw

However, we all have companies in an area of outstanding natural beauty with some magnificent attractions and we have established this forum as a spearhead for promoting the region locally, nationally and internationally.”

The hotels involved are spread across Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham and, so far, said Sue Warnock, the respective councils had been helpful and supportive of the initiative.

“This is a major sales opportunity for the tourism industry in North Wales; all attractions and organisations that participate are set to benefit.

“The number of tourists who visit the area is already impressive, but we think we can bolster those figures with an extra 20,000 visitors a year – 20,000 visitors who stay in hotels and spend locally, providing jobs and feeding money into the local economy.”

“It has been greeted as a breath of fresh air by attractions, hoteliers and local government” added Sue

As part of the group’s initial drive, some of the leading lights in the travel industry will be staying at the Beaufort Park Hotel between October 3 and 4, when they will be welcomed over a gala dinner before attending an exhibition where the regions top landmarks and attractions will be showcasing their products.

North Wales Hotels Working Group says the ball is already rolling on an exciting one-stop online tourist hub, where visitors will be able to book hotels, check out restaurants, hire cars, reserve theatre tickets and find out about all the attractions the area has to offer. The website will play a major role in showcasing North Wales to tourists all over the world and promote the collaborative working of all involved.

The group works on an open-door policy; if you wish to get involved, please contact Emma Williams at the Beaufort Park Hotel on 01352 758646.
