Last week, the 10th annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party in New Brighton helped to brighten the festive season for more than 60 pensioners.
Beaufort Park Hotel, once again proudly donated all of the turkey and accompaniments, along with all of the Christmas puddings.
Local senior citizens were treated to a Christmas dinner and an afternoon of live entertainment thanks to the efforts of event organiser, Paul Jones, along with a number of local residents.
Over the past decade the annual party has continued to grow in popularity, with pensioners ranging from 60 to 90+ years old. This year’s attendees had a combined age of an incredible 4,687!
Supported by volunteers across the community, Paul’s fundraising throughout the year secured enough money to purchase party food and drink, as well as a gift from Santa for each of the pensioners.
Organiser, Paul Jones, said: "Once again a true display of community spirit has been seen in the New Brighton Senior Citizens Christmas Party. The New Brighton Community Centre, Beaufort Park Hotel and residents of our community have worked tirelessly to provide a first class afternoon for our resident senior citizens. The enormous gratitude from all those who attended was mirrored by the pleasure from those who made the afternoon possible."
Susan Warnock, General Manager of Beaufort Park Hotel, said: “We were delighted to donate to this wonderful cause again this year. Many of the party goers have been customers of the Beaufort Park for many years, so it’s fantastic to be able to say thank you during the season of goodwill!”
